Welcome to the Civic Media Center
The Civic Media Center & Stetson Kennedy Library Inc., founded in October 1993, is an alternative library, reading room and info shop. The Civic Media Center is a community-based nonprofit that serves as a resource for progressive grassroots organizing, activism, and public awareness in Gainesville.
Our mission is to provide community access to information and points of view that are under-reported or distorted in mainstream media.
The CMC offers a public-access library, educational discussions, a meeting space, WGOT radio, workshops, music shows and much more!
Music at the CMC
A community staple in Gainesville, the CMC has served as a space for artists and musicians. All of our 29 years have included live music performances. We have hosted all sorts of music entertainment — from anarchist punk bands, to new age acoustic groups, to dance parties.
Sticking to our DIY roots, our shows serve as fundraisers through a donation-based entry, encourage people of all ages and ability to enjoy themselves, and deliver raw energy that is unmatched in our city.
