Country Music Pioneers, The Paisley Fields, Refuse to be Fenced In

The Paisley Fields are taking their boundary-defying, Brooklyn brand of alt-country on the road in support of their new five song EP, Oh These Urban Fences...

Along with their award-winning original music, The Paisley Fields will play some classic country covers at their live shows.

The group is performing as trio, with Kentucky-based banjo player Willie Huston joining singer/pianist/songwriter James Wilson and singer Anna Volpe.

A gay man, Wilson is not the cowboy hat-wearing, good old boy one pictures when thinking about country music. He cuts a different kind of cowboy figure.

But Wilson, along with the rest of The Paisley Fields, is unapologetic about pushing boundaries and seeking inspiration in the unexpected.

Wilson may write about falling in love with men but the songs offer up classic country themes like loss and heartbreak.

“The Paisley Fields’ music is not only unique, but the lyrics are thoughtful and can strike a chord with any audience member,” singer Anna Volpe states.

The Urban Fences Tour is the fourth regional tour for the band in 2015.
