"Protest: The Story of the Gainesville Eight" is a documentary produced locally by Alan Saperstein in 1996. The "Gainesville Eight" was the name given collectively to the defendants in a 1973 trial of Vietnam Veterans Against the War activists who were charged with conspiring to disrupt the 1972 Republican Convention in Miami and subsequently acquitted.

The film includes interviews with the jury foreperson, the press, and the prosecution, and highlights the role of government agents whose mission was to infiltrate and disrupt VVAW by trying to incite the vets to violence.

Runtime: 56 minutes

Trial defendant Scott Camil will be present after the film for discussion and Q&A.
