40th Anniversary of Roe vs Wade Art Walk Show

Published Robbie - Sat, 10/26/2013 - 10:46am

This month we are celebrating the 40th anniversary of Roe vs Wade by inviting artists who are focusing on issues surrounding the case, including the importance of the political climate involving women's liberation in the 20 years leading up to the trial, gender representation in American society and peoples's rights over their own bodies and decisions. With this body of work, we hope to start conversations about the progress that has been made in the direction of gender acceptance in the social and public spheres, as well as what we can do to keep this effort alive.

The work also pays respect to the people who have suffered oppression surrounding the issue, as well as anyone who has fought to protect the decisions and lives of women. This trial was important not only to the specific issue at hand, but to the well being of future generations of women and their rolls in society in general. It was a pivotal point in the revival of women's liberation, and a huge step in the direction of women having independence, and representation of that independence, in American society.
