Civic Media Center's 20th Anniversary Block Party

You are invited to the Civic Media Center's 20th anniversary party! This Friday the 18th, from 6pm til 11pm, we are hosting a party at the Center and courtyard, 433 South Main, with refreshments, birthday cake, music, conversation, fun, and the sharing of memories or inspirations.

Twenty years ago, with Noam Chomsky on hand for the dedication, the fledgling Civic Media Center opened. This week marks two decades of making available an energizing collection of issue-oriented books, documentaries, recordings, and magazines. Of holding educational events that expand our perspectives about our community and our world. Of serving as an inter-generational hub for a wide range of community and activist groups to meet, to make connections, and to present events. Of facilitating people getting active and organized in movements that make a difference. So many people, including folks who have long since moved from Gainesville, have told us over the years that their experiences with the CMC changed their lives.

The CMC is a rare resource; enduring for the long haul is rarer still. Come celebrate the achievement so far! Bring friends and family (food and musical instruments too). And please help us continue. Your donations are appreciated; the Civic Media Center exists and endures thanks to this community's effort and support.
