UF Hispanic Heritage Month Art Show

The University of Florida’s 2013 Hispanic Heritage Month Celebration’s philanthropic focus is education and self-expression through the arts. In honor of this focus and in honor of UF’s Hispanic Heritage Month’s “I Am A Dreamer” theme, we will be having an art show on Friday October 11th from 7pm to 10pm at the Civic Media center.

The theme of this art show is "I Am A Blank Canvas." There will be paintings, photography, jewelry, and other forms of art being displayed and sold at the art show. There will also be live musical performances and slam poetry performances. Both UF students and non-UF students are invited to participate in and attend this event. Artists will be given the opportunity to sell their artwork as long as a portion of the profit they make that night is donated to our charity.

The money raised from donations and the selling of artwork will go towards helping a non-profit organization called Proyecto AlgarabĂa, which is a global youth movement-building project whose aim is to create platforms that empower youth through intercommunity dialogues, oral history, oral expression, art and theater in local communities in order to stimulate the creation of blueprints for local and regional social justice. They serve youth living within historically marginalized communities and socially excluding conditions in Latin America.
