Class description/Material list

This course is designed to give the beginning artist a foundation in drawing fundementals. The course will introduce the elements of art and principles of design. Students will be exposed to variety of drawing techniques and objects to use them. The end of the course the students will be able to draw with confidence anything they observe. The phrase “But I can't draw!!” will be a thing of the past.

Class materials

PAPER:

Hard back drawing book

18x24 Newsprint pad, rough surface

The following paper should all be approx. 22x30or larger (cost: approximately $5 per sheet)

1 sheets *Arches cover stock or rives BFK

*if you have trouble finding this, substitute more Arches and/or BFK or comparable paper

ERASERS:

Kneaded eraser

mars plastic eraser

Bull dog clip

Cosmetic brush or bamboo ink brush


 

DRAWING TOOLS:

*Graphite pencils 2B, 4B, 6B

Charcoal pencil (medium, dark)

Small set prisma colored pencel set of 12

pencil sharpener

Black sharpie marker

ruler 12 or 18 inches

Students may use drawing tools they already own with teacher approval.
