International Socialist Organization Benefit Show

On Friday, June 21, the International Socialist Organization is hosting a folk-rock benefit show at the Civic Media Center. Join us in the courtyard for a rollicking good time with food, drinks, live music and spoken word. $5 at the door - all proceeds will help student and community activists get to Chicago for Socialism 2013, a conference hosted by the Center for Economic Research and Social Change. (socialismconference.org)

Homemade root beer, burritos, and other beverages will be for sale - as well as socialist swag (ie: coozies, t-shirts, and buttons). While your hunger and thirst are being satisfied, your ears will be delighted with the stylings of:

Lindsey Mills is the folk punk belle of Gainesville. Returning from adventures in Brooklyn with her new release, "Stonefruit" featuring alluring accompaniment from Gville locals. Blazing chords, peculiar composition, and sweet guitar licks make for a truly Floridian sound.

Sad Scouts - Farewell Gainesville. Raucous, sad and spooky sing-alongs. Music to run away to.

Holden Caulfield and the Chauvinists - Gainesville. Eclectic set of lyrically oriented simple songs, from country to shoegaze. Lush instrumentals accompanied by moaning vocals. Hilarity ensues.

Spoken word by Pat + his whiny bullshit - I'm Pat. This is my whiny bullshit.

And a special set with Duncan Brueckner, ISO organizer and acoustic guitar player extraordinaire.
