Kings and Queens of the Mountains

An evening with Haitian Royalties

Presenting:

Photographs & Poetry by Zazou

Dance by Sebastien

Drumming & paintings by Adrian Rhodes

There is poetry in photography. There’s also dance, you can imagine movements by looking at a photograph. There are loud drums and beautiful paintings in the imagery of seemingly perfect strangers. There are places in photography, locations that you’ve never been physically, but are well acquainted with mentally.

A trio has been formed to take you to a different world. Zazou, Sebastien, and Adrian will collectively take you on a journey to Haiti. Through her photographs & poetry, Zazou will introduce you to the royalties and the rich history of her motherland. Sebastien will move you with his choreography; his dance moves will mirror the spirits of the Kings and Queens of his people. Adrian will awaken your spirit with the sound of his drum; he will pierce through your soul with his paintings.

Those who inhabit the mountains are often dismissed as unimportant peasants. The Trio sees them as royalty. They are Kings and Queens of Haiti; they are indeed the backbone of this sacred land that we call home.
