UF SPOHP in the Delta: Mississippi Project Report, Year Five

Published sparrina - Tue, 01/15/2013 - 11:00am

Last September, the University of Florida's Samuel Proctor Oral History Program sent a team of students and program staff to the Mississippi Delta for its fifth annual research trip. There, researchers conducted oral history interviews for SPOHP's Mississippi Freedom Project, an archive of oral histories taken with labor rights leaders and veterans of the Civil Rights Movement.

At 6 p.m. on January 15, research participants from the trip will share their reflections and experiences in photos and panel presentations at the Civic Media Center. The purpose of this event is to bring to the Gainesville community our experiences in the Delta, and encourage discussion about the current state of civil and labor rights issues in the South. This event is free and open to the public.
