This ArtWalk the CMC will be hosting artists Andy Krone and Scott Bellew along with artwork from the Civic Media Center's collection.

Andy Krone's paintings for this show are an ongoing experiment in deconstructing an image using minimal shapes and colors. This local artist is using acrylic paint and has chosen a photograph of the "Mercury Seven" as his subject matter. This photo works because it is a highly detailed and contrasted black and white photo, leaving him plenty of room to play with shapes and color. The Mercury Seven were the first United States space team.

Scott A. Bellew is an Ohio native now residing in Gainesville for over 10 years. He studied Fine Arts at University of Toledo (Ohio) and Graphic Art, Design and Illustration at Clark State College (Ohio). Scott has worked mainly as a collagist (cut and paste), as well as photography, digital media, sculpture, stained glass, painting, pen & ink, pencil, jewelry making, and picture framing. His collages are made from recycled magazines found in the trash, donated by friends, or other materials destined for landfills. He has been  making art in this medium for over 15 years. His work is mostly open for interpretation, the images create themselves through him but there are common themes of spirituality, musical inspiration, and occasional metropolitan and popular cultural influences. All pieces are framed by Scott. Bellew has been working locally as a picture framer at Creative Workshop for 6 years but has over 20 years experience in the framing industry.

The Civic Media Center will be displaying a small portion of its collected art for this month's ArtWalk. The art will be for sale to benefit the center.
