"The Silent Room: A Worker's Musical" Crew Call

Published Robbie - Sat, 06/30/2012 - 1:55pm

As a fundraiser for the Industrial Workers of the World, our local branch is putting together a production of The Silent Room: A Workers' Musical. The play centers around the workers at Ahab's Coffee who are growing tired of their bosses exploiting them. After incidents of sexual harassment, scheduling cuts, loss of healthcare benefits, and many other blows to the employees, they decide to unionize and fight for better working conditions. The play spreads the message, philosophy, and even many of the tactics used by the IWW and other radical labor unions through the fun medium of musical theatre. But this play cannot be a success without your help!

If acting is not your thing (or even if it is and you wish to help out more) the first crew meeting will be held on Sunday, July 15th at 3pm at the Civic Media Center. Again, all experience levels are welcomed. We will find jobs that fit your skills. We need folks who can help with design, promotion, lighting, set building, sign making, props gathering/making, finding sponsors, finding/creating costumes, stage make up, etc.
