Summer is here! The Civic Media Center invites you to join us for Summer Vegan Feast. Co-hosted by the Student Animal Alliance and Gainesville Food Not Bombs, this fundraising event for the center will give vegetarians, vegans and others an opportunity to enjoy a non-meat-based meal together. The dinner will also be a great opportunity to meet other like-minded individual and exchange recipes. We invite people to bring a dish if they wish, but there will be plenty of delicious food for everyone.

Student Animal Alliance is a UF-based group, but open to members from the larger community. Formerly named the Animal Activists of Alachua, their goals remain the same: to increase general animal welfare on a local basis, promote the broader equal consideration of animals, foster community among those considerate of animals, raise awareness of the full impacts of the public’s habits as consumers, and educate the public about alternative, better habits. To accomplish this, they volunteer with local animal sanctuaries, host various get-togethers, such as potlucks, and hold a variety of demonstrations, protests, and educational events, both on- and off-campus.

Food Not Bombs is a loose-knit group of independent collectives, serving free vegan and vegetarian food to others. The group's ' ideology is that myriad corporate and government priorities are skewed to allow hunger to persist in the midst of abundance.
