The Civic Media Center (CMC) will host a talk by singer/songwriter Dave Lippman on current issues and activism in solidarity with the Palestinian struggle for self-determination on Tuesday, February 21st at 5:30pm. Mr. Lippman will be performing a set of music at the CMC later on that night, beginning at 8pm.

Dave Lippman is best known as a satirical political singer/songwriter who uses humor and a series of alter egoes such as "George Shrub, The Singing CIA Agent" and "Wild Bill Bailout, the Bard of the Bankers" to engage in progressive social and political commentary through music. He is also an activist on a variety of issues, including Palestine/Israel struggle. His 2004 visit to Palestine and Israel resulted in a multimedia piece, "Star of Goliath," which encapsulates modern Holy Land history and imperial machinations, with attention to varying Jewish views on Israel and the struggle for Palestinian survival and sovereignty.

This event will feature an informal talk including some video clips and music, with a focus on Dave's recent activism in support of the Boycott/Divest/Sanctions movement to put grassroots pressure on Israel's business sector and government. His full set of acoustic music, featuring a "guest" appearance by Wild Bill Bailout, will begin later on that evening at 8pm.
