The Civic Media Center will host a screening of the documentary film "The Corporation” on Wednesday, December 7th at 7pm. The event is presented by the Gainesville General Membership Branch of the Industrial Workers of the World (IWW).

The Corporation” is a 2003 Canadian documentary film written by Joel Bakan, and directed by Mark Achbar and Jennifer Abbott. The documentary is critical of the modern-day corporation, considering its legal status as a class of person and evaluating its behaviour towards society and the world at large as a psychiatrist might evaluate an ordinary person. This is explored through specific examples. Bakan wrote the book, The Corporation: The Pathological Pursuit of Profit and Power, during the filming of the documentary. “The Corporation” includes interviews with 40 corporate insiders and critics including Naomi Klein, Milton Friedman, Howard Zinn, Vandana Shiva and Michael Moore - plus true confessions, case studies and strategies for change.
