Here is this month's Artwalk lineup for the CMC:

Jeff Zern (ceramic and found object sculpture):

Man’s relationship with the natural world has shifted from what, historically, was one of symbiosis to one that is now of exploitation. We once worked cooperatively with nature in order to survive, but now we destroy and exploit nature for monetary advancement. My work deals with this relationship.

I reveal to the viewer the value of the natural world to humanity.  Humans are a part of a delicate ecological balance, but we have removed ourselves from this balance for the sake of “advancement.”  Our interest in this ecological balance only goes so far as securing our comfortable existence. But destruction of the natural world is ultimately self-destruction.  I hope to illustrate the importance of preserving our resources to avoid disastrous consequences for humanity.  Photos of work and more info at http://jeffzern.blogspot.com/

At 9:30PM, a workshop performance of "The Condition" will be presented.

This one of a kind experimental production incorporates media elements and live performance. "The Condition" seeks to explore our current moment in history, and how we function in this economic and political environment.
