Please join us for an evening of art and music as the CMC participates in the July Artwalk on Friday, July 30th from 7-10pm.

Our featured artists for this month's Walk are Gainesville native Elaine Shoaf and Ocala resident Chrysanna Leyton, with ambient music provided by Our Sun of Gold Air.

Alma Elaine Shoaf is a Gainesville native, educated at the Savannah College of Art and Design. Her work includes illustration, printmaking, painting, and a combination of all three. Her past work has ranged from lyrical interpretations to portraiture to erotica, and she is currently working on a series of paintings illustrating the relationship between the carnality and the tenderness of human nature.

Chrysanna Leyton says of her work: "Creating and expressing through many types of media has been a focus my entire life. I try to let the art have a mind of its own. Whether it is acrylic, gouache, or oil paint; pencil, marker, or pastel; clay, collage, or recycled trinkets, the art of creative expression can breathe life into any medium. I enjoy bringing 'out of the ordinary' art to my hometown, Ocala, and to the Gator Nation nearby."

Musical ambience for this month's CMC Artwalk exhibit will be provided by Our Sun Of Gold Air--calming, introspective, and adventurous sound scapes from local musician Tristan Whitehill. Blending wet drips and textures, soft guitar, and warbled synthesizer, this project aims at creating moods to exist in while adding to and juxtaposing with the visual elements of the Gainesville Artwalk at the Civic Media Center.
