This anthology, which traces and analyzes various aspects of the Mexican-American's life as he has matured, then demanded, and finally started receiving his proper position in our nation, is unique.  It is not a collection of previously published articles or excerpts.  Rather, it is preponderantly a collection of original unpublished explorations of topics heretofore unresearched.  These new articles, as well as those previously published, have been arranged chronologically so that the reader sees the history of the awakening Mexican-American unfold in the total American historical scene.
