Solidarity with the San Francisco 8

August 7, 2007
8:00 pm

As the United States government continues to wage a war of eradication against
resistance and radicalism in America, its long running campaign has claimed yet more
‘collateral damage.’ Eight elderly black men, all former Black Panthers, two of whom
have been imprisoned since the 1970s, were charged in January with the 1971 killing
of a San Francisco police officer. Similar charges against the men, known
collectively as the San Francisco 8, were thrown out in 1975 after it was determined
that evidence used to indict them was extracted through torture.

Join us at the CMC on August 8th to watch a screening of “Legacy of Torture,” a film
documenting the plight of the SF8 and the campaign against them. We will also be
writing letters to the SF8 and discussing their situation and other instances of our
government’s legacy and continuation of repression against social activists.
