Culture Change

April 13, 2007
7:00 pm

While there are many books that examine the ecological price of modern industrialism and the limits of our energy supply, I am not aware of anyone who has directly addressed the historic and current relationship between energy/ ecological limits and the development of democracy and civil liberty. Culture Change: Civil Liberty, Peak Oil, and the End if Empire attempts to do just that. The book also offers directions for positive change beyond changing personal consumption habits.

The CMC welcomes author Alexis Zeigler, who will present a digital slideshow that examines ideas and arguments presented in the book. It looks at the history of energy usage in America in order to better understand the resultant infrastructure. Among others, it analyzes the potential of biofuel, and points out some of its hazards. The slideshow is informative and engaging. Zeigler is an experienced activist and public speaker, who will present the slideshow and distribute his book.

More information about the book can be found at www.conev.org.

When: Friday, April 13 @ 7 PM
Where: The CMC, 1021 W University Ave.
This event is free and open to the public, however donations are appreciated.
