The Alliance of Graduate Employees Local will be hosting a conference in Gainesville, Florida from Friday, March 23 to Sunday, March 25. AGEL includes all of the graduate employee locals in the American Federation of Teachers and participating non-affiliated organizations dedicated to unionizing graduate employees. In 1995, this alliance formed with the mission of advancing the rights and unionization efforts of graduate employees at colleges and universities nationwide. AGEL locals meet up twice yearly. Our fall conference focuses on organizing, while our spring conference focuses on leadership development.
On Sunday, March 25, AGEL with host a breakfast/wrap-up/business meeting at the Civic Media Center. Groups in attendance will include Gainesville Area National Organization for Women, Gainesville Women’s Liberation, UF Chapter of United Faculty of Florida, UF Pride Alliance, Florida Labor Party, North Central Florida CLC, and the Gainesville branch of Industrial Workers of the World.
